About The San Diego Spiritual Tantric Meetup

The question that I have been getting from the members of this group as well as in life in general has been, ?What is Tantric Spirituality?? I am also asked if it has to do with sexuality.
When the word Tantra is used today it means a lot of different things to different people. One of the things it is meant to mean is a lifestyle, a very serious lifestyle.
Tantra is a way of living very similar to Yoga. It is not about exercises or techniques but rather about a way to approach life. It is not about sex or about dogma. It is a call to self awareness, oneness, and to commitment.
Before you can enter into Tantra or the path of Tantra you must first come to a place in which you can commit. In the beginning you must be able to commit not only to the work but also to a teacher. Without one you are not going to find what you are seeking. The need for a teacher is of the utmost of importance. If you do not believe you need one then you have already lost the battle with the ego. Understandably there are always exceptions to everything and there is also the possibility to grow with out a teacher but a very small percentage of people will ever attain that.
So the first thing one must learn about Tantra is the preliminaries, how to make a real commitment and then create an intention from that. You must bring your life into an order that allows for growth. The fact that you can be sexual with multiple people is not growth. It may help you to move through some of your fears but it is not the end of the road. It is barely the beginning. It is also not necessary in order to grow. It may be fun but it will not bring you to enlightenment. This is where many people fall away in their understanding of Tantra and this is why many people get the wrong idea of it. It is really not about sex.
Tantra is the most difficult of all spiritual paths to follow. It calls you into a life path that is both extremely rewarding and at the same time equally as scary. The biggest demons you will ever run across are standing beside the Tantric path. You will not find them in Christianity or in any other religion. What would be the point? There is no enlightenment to gain there. However if you choose to follow Tantra you will most definitely find them there. If you are not prepared and have not done the preliminaries you will not last on this path. If you think you have been then you have been fooled or you have misunderstood Tantra.
For me there is no other way to oneness with All. It is my path. I welcome anyone interested in it to join me on the journey. If you have a teacher and they are walking the walk please have them join us as well. All are welcome. Let us learn to meditate, to be awake, to feel all that is there to feel and to be all that we have come into this world to be. Let us discover our true purpose and live it.
